I have been so focused on shooting families that it has been a while since I have photographed a ‘bump to baby’ shoot. I need to do more of them as it was thoroughly enjoyable.  Spending time with ‘mum and dad to be’ on the ‘bump’ shoot was just magical and I got to share in all their excitement at the prospect of meeting their little one. It really is exciting for a photographer as you  share in the anticipation of the birth and then the joy in meeting this new little person.  It’s an honour and such a privilege to catch a glimpse into people’s lives and I really do feel that i genuinely get to know and care about all my clients. A bump to baby shoot is just that more personal and intimate and of course so exciting! In this particular case, mum and dad did not know if they were having a girl or a boy so that was also a really fun surprise!

Outdoor maternity shoot

The ‘bump’ part of the shoot was done outdoors on a lovely warm and breezy day in the gorgeous Cirencester Park in Cirencester, Capital of the Cotswolds. Mum also brought along her two sweet little dogs and I just so love having dogs on shoots that I’m going to do a dedicated blog to them one day! Aren’t they two cuties??!!

Natural newborn photography

The newborn shoot was scheduled for a few weeks later and I believe after a very long labour, baby finally made her much anticipated arrival. My newborn shoots are a mix of candid lifestyle shots and some loosely posed photographs. I just love how these turned out and the red couch, oh my word, i want that red couch for future shoots!!! Its so great when you walk into a room and find a piece of furniture that stands out like this one did. Its not easy going to do a shoot at client’s home as you are unfamiliar with the environment that you are walking into and unfamiliar with the light and the colour of the furnishings etc… In the case of this newborn photography shoot, the red couch and the starry wallpaper was just perfect and i think it added a modern little twist to the shoot.

In closing, if you are contemplating a ‘bump to baby’ shoot please do get in touch. Its such a fund shoot for everyone involved and these really are the quintessential photographs that you can look back very fondly on one day and remember what it felt like to anticipate the arrival of your newborn and then get to hold your little one in your arms.
